Ten Pitches Without Swinging in MLB The Show 26 With U4GM

Better hitting in MLB The Show 26 starts with knowing why an at-bat went wrong, not promising yourself you'll swing less next time. You might be thinking about roster upgrades or MLB 26 stubs, but your next useful improvement could come from reviewing three ugly swings. Did you chase something you never wanted Miss your spot with the PCI Get there late Those are different problems. Treating them as one big hitting slump makes practice feel busy without giving you much to work on.

Give each miss a name

Start by separating the decision from the execution. A swing at a low breaking ball outside your target area needs a different response from a missed fastball over the plate. Don't overhaul your timing because you chased. Don't blame pitch selection when your PCI simply went somewhere else. Keep a small tally across a few at-bats, then work on whichever mistake keeps showing up. Getting caught looking deserves its own note, too, especially when you were waiting for a pitch that never arrived.

What happened What to practice
Chased outside your target Swing selection
Missed a hittable location PCI control
Swung early or late Timing

Settle on controls you can judge fairly

Before you pile on more drills, check whether your hitting setup feels comfortable. Standard Zone asks you to manage PCI placement and timing together. Fixed Zone lets the PCI stay where you leave it rather than returning to the middle. Big Zone uses nine selectable areas, though it doesn't offer Perfect/Perfect contact. Try the alternatives in Options Explorer, then stick with one for several sessions. Switching after every rough inning makes it harder to tell whether you're improving or just adjusting again.

Watch first, then narrow the job

Use Custom Practice to face a fastball and one breaking pitch, adjusting their percentages rather than taking on everything immediately. Watch ten pitches without swinging. Call ball or strike as the pitch travels, and notice where your read falls apart. Maybe the low breaker looks tempting. Maybe you lose the ball just after release. Pick one issue for the next round. Then give yourself a smaller area to attack, such as the middle third, before gradually adding more pitches.

Watch the release.
Predict the location.
Review one recurring mistake.

Take a plan into the next at-bat

Patience doesn't mean taking every first pitch. Swing when it fits your plan, and widen your protection with two strikes. Check Pitch History for repeated chases or missed opportunities, not promises about what comes next. Whether you choose to buy cheap MLB 26 stubs or keep your current roster, judge practice by clearer decisions rather than home runs. Longer at-bats won't guarantee a fastball down the middle. Read the pitch you actually get.
