• Swipe Bears, tigers, and lions are usually natural rivals — especially adult males. But Leo the lion, Baloo the bear, and Shere Khan the tiger share an extraordinary lifelong friendship, forged through the trauma they survived together.

The trio was discovered in 2001 during a police raid on a drug dealer’s home in Atlanta, Georgia. In the basement, officers found three terrified, underfed cubs suffering from severe parasite infections.

The Georgia DNR transferred the animals to their new 250-acre home at Noah’s Ark Animal Sanctuary (NAAS), a nonprofit rescue in Locust Grove, Georgia. Because the cubs had endured such harsh and damaging conditions, rescuers decided it was safest to keep them together at the sanctuary rather than return them to the wild.

  • Witness one of Earth’s most awe-inspiring spectacles: the Great Migration, captured beautifully by @jackswynnerton

From July to October, more than 1.5 million wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles thunder across the plains of the Serengeti into Kenya’s Maasai Mara. Drawn by the promise of rain and fresh grass, their journey is a primal dance of life, death, and instinct.

They brave crocodile-infested rivers and evade lions and cheetahs in a survival saga that has unfolded for millennia. It’s not just a migration—it’s nature at its most raw and remarkable.

  • Joao Pereira de Souza, 78, a retired bricklayer and part-time fisherman spotted the small penguin struggling in his backyard which opens up onto a beach in Brazil.

The helpless creature was starving and covered in oil but De Souza took him in and nursed him back to health, naming the South American Magellanic penguin ‘Dindim’

It took him a week to scrub the bird's feathers of the sticky black gunk. De Souza let Dindim back into the water when he was well again, never expecting to see his new friend again.

He was in shock when only a few months later, the penguin returned to the island, identified Mr de Souza, and returned home with him.

Dindim now lives with De Souza for eight months of the year and spends the rest of his time back home which is 5,000 miles away.

  • Meet Snowflake — the world’s only known albino gorilla
Born in the wilds of Equatorial Guinea and captured in 1966, his unique white fur and pink skin were caused by albinism, a rare genetic condition that affects melanin production.

Snowflake spent over 35 years at the Barcelona Zoo, becoming a beloved symbol of the city. Genetic research later revealed his albinism was due to inbreeding — a factor that also increased his vulnerability to skin cancer, which led to his death in 2003.

Though he’s gone, Snowflake remains a powerful reminder of the beauty and fragility of genetic diversity in the animal kingdom.

  • A photographer captures the intense stare of a majestic black swan, its piercing eyes reflecting a sense of mystery and elegance. The swan's sleek, inky feathers contrast beautifully against the still water, creating an image of both grace and power.

The black swan (Cygnus atratus) is a native Australian bird known for its striking all-black feathers and bright red bill. These social, monogamous birds are typically found in wetlands and lakes. They are herbivores, feeding on aquatic plants and grasses, and often live in large flocks outside of breeding seasons.
