Swipe Bears, tigers, and lions are usually natural rivals — especially adult males. But Leo the lion, Baloo the bear, and Shere Khan the tiger share an extraordinary lifelong friendship, forged through the trauma they survived together.
The trio was discovered in 2001 during a police raid on a drug dealer’s home in Atlanta, Georgia. In the basement, officers found three terrified, underfed cubs suffering from severe parasite infections.
The Georgia DNR transferred the animals to their new 250-acre home at Noah’s Ark Animal Sanctuary (NAAS), a nonprofit rescue in Locust Grove, Georgia. Because the cubs had endured such harsh and damaging conditions, rescuers decided it was safest to keep them together at the sanctuary rather than return them to the wild.
