BMW has unveiled an electric prototype, the Vision Driving Experience, that delivers an astounding 18,000 Newton-meters (13,269 lb-ft) of torque at the wheels. This immense power is approximately 20 times more than that of a typical internal combustion engine pickup truck. To put this into perspective, the Bugatti Chiron, renowned for its performance, produces 1,163 lb-ft of torque at the wheels. This means BMW's prototype generates torque equivalent to more than 11 Bugatti Chirons. The Vision Driving Experience is built on BMW's upcoming Neue Klasse platform, featuring advanced in-house developed software and a "super-brain" onboard computer with ten times the processing power of previous models. This system manages the vehicle's electrical and digital functions, enhancing driving dynamics and efficiency. Additionally, the prototype boasts a 25% increase in efficiency through energy recuperation during braking. The regenerative braking system is so effective that conventional brakes are primarily reserved for emergencies or unexpected stops.
