  • It’s incredibly fascinating to watch what’s happening right now in the UK gilt market. I often focus on the US understandably, since it dominates global financial markets but the signals coming from the UK bond market deserve serious attention.

When people talk about gilts being “undervalued,” what they’re really reacting to is something deeper… the market’s perception of fiscal credibility.

    Here’s what often gets overlooked…

Bond markets are one of the few real time mechanisms that hold governments accountable. While we usually associate accountability with elections and politics, markets speak a different language… cost.

When governments borrow too aggressively or look fiscally reckless, lenders (investors) start to lose confidence. That loss of trust shows up fast… in higher yields, weaker demand, and rising refinancing costs. It’s not about partisanship it’s about risk and trust.

If a government behaves as if it can spend freely or rely on money printing without consequences, the bond market pushes back. And that’s exactly what we’re seeing now.

It’s not just a technical issue or a pricing anomaly it’s the market demanding responsibility.

The UK’s current situation is a powerful reminder… the cost of capital matters. Markets aren’t political they’re rational. And when that rationality flags something, it’s worth paying attention.

    I’ll translate… please somebody buy our debt…

    Anyway…

    Probably nothing

  • An exhibition that aims to showcase innovations in Bahraini-made crafts and products opens tomorrow.

The Social Development Ministry will host the ‘Summer of Craft and Innovation’ exhibition at the Capital Mall. The expo will run until Monday, from 10am to 8pm.

This is part of the ministry’s ongoing efforts to support national projects and to strengthen the role of the sustainable social economy in development, assistant under-secretary for community development Enas Al Majid said yesterday.

She emphasised that organising the exhibition forms part of the ministry’s continued efforts to support Bahraini artisans and productive families by enhancing marketing platforms that enable them to showcase their products and strengthen their presence in the local market. This not only promotes the sustainability of their projects but also contributes to supporting the community economy, the official added.

  • Artisan, a San Francisco-based AI startup, has raised $25 million in Series A funding led by Glade Brook Capital, with participation from Y Combinator, Day One Ventures, HubSpot Ventures, and others.

The announcement was made by 23-year-old CEO Jaspar Carmichael-Jack, who co-founded the startup with Sam Stallings, a former IBM product manager.

Known for its provocative “Stop Hiring Humans” campaign, Artisan clarified that its goal is to augment human work by automating repetitive tasks, rather than replacing employees entirely. Despite the slogan, the startup currently employs 35 people and plans to hire 22 more across various roles.

Artisan operates in the AI SDR (sales development representative) space, offering AI agents like Ava to generate cold outreach messages. The startup also plans to expand its product line with Aaron, for handling inbound messages, and Aria, a meeting assistant — both expected by the end of 2025.

  • Ferrari’s hand-painted Scudetto Aerografato is pure craftsmanship — airbrushed directly onto the fender by master artisans in Maranello, no templates, just skill.

Each shield takes nearly 16 hours of layering, shading, and polishing to create a three-dimensional, metallic effect that’s as durable as it is beautiful.

Priced between $14,000–$17,000, it’s more than a flex — it’s a tribute to Ferrari’s legacy, built one steady brushstroke at a time.

    Would you go for it?
